1) MF Husain


MaqboolFida Husain lived from 17 September, 1915 to 9 June, 2011. Started his career with Indian Modernism in the 1940s. Some his best works are Between the Spider & the Lamp, Mother India, Bharat Mata, GajaGamini and Maiden’s Fight

2) Ravi Varma


Ravi Varma was one of the greatest Indian painters who lived from 29 April, 1848 to 2 October, 1906. Most of his paintings were inspired by European Academic art and reflected a real-life portrait.  His most famous paintings were on Indian Gods such as Baby Krishna, Saraswati, etc.
 
3) Bhupen Khakhar


BhupenKhakhar lived from March 10, 1934 to August 8, 2003. He was one of the pioneers of Indian Contemporary Art. Some of  his most famous paintings are Gallery of Rogues, Manchester Cotton Mills, Two Men With a Flower and Man with Plastic Flowers.
 
4) Akbar Padamsee


Akbar Padamsee was born on April 12, 1928 and is one of the best Modern Indian Painter. Some of his well known works are Nude, Mirror Image, Cityscape, Portrait of Husain and Paysage aux toits.
 
5) Aditya Basak


Aditya Basak was born on March 14, 1953. He is one of the fastest growing name in India with his popular works. Though most of his paintings are untitled, he has received a National Award in 1986.
